In accepting Not for Profit (NFP) Council Chair Steve
Chies’ proposal to develop a Trustee of the Year award, AHCA now has high
expectations of success. Nominations for
the 2016 Trustee of the Year program will open this March and close in May; now
is the time to get behind this NFP-specific effort and begin thinking about a
nominee.
If a care center
or company has an existing trustee recognition award, its most recent honoree
may be the best choice to represent the organization in the national program.
Besides effective
board practices, characteristics to look for in a trustee include a:
- Strong
commitment to faithfully carrying out the functions of the board,
- Willingness
to devote whatever it takes to be successful,
- Dedication to
improving the lives of frail and vulnerable individuals.
AHCA’s existing NFP Program of the Year continues in 2016 with no changes from previous years.
